Bengal Tiger spotted in St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin, Ireland!

Bengal Tiger One of the perks of working in a city center location is being able to go for a walk around a park, such as St. Stephen’s Green Park, during your lunch. This week the green hosted an exhibition called “Spirit of the Wild” - A collection of evocative photographs of the world’s wildlife, by internationally acclaimed photographer, Steve Bloom. (http://www.stevebloom.com) The exhibition runs until October 7th, 2007.

“Over a period of ten years, he travelled to some of the most remote regions of the earth, capturing images which powerfully portray the individual spirit of animals. As well as its powerful aesthetic qualities, the exhibition subtly educates the viewer with informative captions. Written by WWF, they highlight the plight of species in today’s changing climate and man’s continuous pressure on their habitat.” (www.wecommunic8.com)

Steve’s photography of the natural world is evocative. His approach reveals rage, tenderness, and even humor in his subjects (I particularly liked the photograph of the Panda climbing a tree, Sichuan, China). Bloom seems to be able to capture those fleeting moments when the gap between animal and human seems to disappear.

I also like to occassionally take a time out and have a look out my window at the world going by. Today, there are a number of artists around the green. The mix of all of the colours from their canvases is great… some inspiration for a dull Friday in August! :)
